‘Tweet helps Greeks overcome crisis’ – Dutch life coach part of art project Athens Biennale 2013
Amsterdam, September 17
Guardian Journalist John Henley could have never imagined that his tweet would have such an impact. John’s call for personal stories about the crisis in Greece, resulted in a work of art of significance. That work of art will be shown at the Athens Biennale 2013. British art duo ‘DashNDem’ used John’s article as inspiration for their new work of art: Reaching Re- birth. The Dutch- Greek life coach, Wassili Zafiris was asked to be part of this work of art.
On March 9th last year British journalist of the Guardian, Jon Henley sent this tweet into the world about misery and self-help in Greece which resulted in a series of in-depth articles. His first article was about Katerina Kanelidou, a mental coach of 42 whom voluntarily helps unemployed in Greece. She started a coaching group to to rebuild self- respect and self-confidence by awakening responsibility. This article happened to be read by two artists and academics (Dash and Dem), which found inspiration for their art project : Reaching Re-Birth at the Biennale of Athens.
In ‘Reaching Rebirth’ 12 international top life coaches each present a topic via video to coach the Greek audience to Rebirth in overcoming the most pressing Greek issues in Greek history of the last couple of years. These are all deeply personal issues and the coaches all present their topics via prerecorded video messages to interactively engage with the audience. This is a first in the world and unique work of art combined with personal transformation. The topics vary form ‘taking responsibility’, ‘overcoming pride’ to ‘transforming pessimism’.
The topcoaches have been chosen out of 28.000 members of the International Coaching Federation, the biggest federation in the world. ICF’s mission is ‘to be in service of humanity flourishing’.
Representing the Netherlands
The Netherlands is being represented by Wassili Zafiris, Coach, NLP Master trainer and neuro-semantic trainer. He is known for his twice nominated book ‘IK BEN niet alleen op de wereld’ (i.c.w. Ben Steenstra) about Meaningful Profit and his work as Climate Leader with Al Gore’s Project Reality (www.wassilizafiris.nl).
